With all the activities around the Christmas Season, you probably didn’t notice that I failed to write a blog post on December 25. Monday being my usual day to blog, I had good intentions. Here it is – Monday again.
I also intended to send out my January newsletter this week. (That still might happen!)
But we all know where good intentions will get us.
Long story short, I got Covid for Christmas.
I’m grateful for the advances in science and medicine that kept me from getting it until now. If not for the vaccines, I would have had it a long time ago and maybe wouldn’t be here today. If not for being fully-vaccinated, I probably would have ended up in the hospital for Christmas.
I’m slowly recovering. I hope to get back to my regular Monday blogging activities soon.
In the meantime, I hope you have at least one good book to read.
And don’t forget the people of Ukraine.
Janet
P.S. It’s not too late to subscribe to my every-other-month newsletter. Just visit https://www.janetmorrisonbooks.com to subscribe. Thank you!

Feel better soon, Janet!

Thank you. It certainly wasn’t a typical Christmas Season for me! I finally tested negative for the second time last night, but I’m still really dragging. Can’t seem to shake it. I appreciate your concern and comment!

Thank you, Carol. I’m still really dragging. Can’t seem to shake it. I finally tested negative for the second time last night. I was beginning to think this was going to be a permanent condition! I hope you will escape Covid and all the flu, etc. that’s going around.

Thank you, Francis, and Happy New Year to you! I finally tested negative for Covid for the second time just last night, which was encouraging. However, I’m still really dragging and can’t seem to shake it. I hope you and yours stay well. Covid, RSV, and the flu are all spreading rapidly over here. I think I’ll be wearing a mask when I go out in public for quite a while. I haven’t been out of the house since December 19th. “Cabin Fever” might set in soon! LOL! I look forward to feeling like getting back to enjoying your blog soon….

Thank you, Anita. Needless to say, this was an unusual Christmas since I got sick on December 20. I had my second negative Covid test (finally!) last night, which was encouraging. I’m still really dragging and can’t seem to shake all the symptoms. This, too, shall pass. I hope you and all your family will stay well and escape all the Covid, RSV, and flu that are making the rounds. When I’m strong enough to go out in public again, I think I’ll be masking up for the rest of the winter.

Thank you so much, Rebecca. I miss you, too! I haven’t read a blog in nearly three weeks. Don’t take it personally — I haven’t read anybody’s blog! LOL! No energy, but I had my second negative Covid test just last night. I was beginning to think this was going to be a permanent condition! This has really knocked me for a loop. I’m awake all night and sleep all day. It’s maddening.

I am glad to hear you are testing negative. Although they say COVID leaves you a bit weak, I am sure you will bounce back properly and soon Janet. Have yourself good rests during the day and little by little you’ll see improvement. I am just getting over the flu and it’s been since 24 DEC. So these viral infections take a while, but rest and good nutrition will help plenty. Take good care Janet and we’ll be here waiting for your next post. All the best.

Oh my! I thought you had a cold — but it turned out to be the flu. I’m so sorry. It will take you a while to bounce back, too. I’m sorry you were sick over the Christmas celebrations. Our tree is still up because I hardly saw it until this week. Plus, I don’t have the energy to take down the decorations. All the best from North Carolina. Take care of yourself.

Thank you! I’m finally testing negative for Covid, which is encouraging. Now, if I can just get rid of all the symptoms…. Happy New Year! Take care and stay well!

Yes, it’s still around. The newest variant is still putting some people in the hospital in the US. It seems it’s very contagious but not as severe as earlier strains. There’s a lot of flu going around, too, so I’ll need to mask up when I go back out in public this winter. I am fully vaccinated, so I’m sure that helped me to not have as serious a case as it might have been. I hope it will stay away from the British Virgin Islands!

Yes, I am slowly bouncing back to normal, just a bit of a lingering cough but much better. We always keep the tree until the 6th of January because that is the day of the Three Kings Day, the day the children get their gifts! Hope you feel better and better every day! All the best!

Feeling much better, thank you Janet. Hope you feel better very soon! We always wait until after Three Kings Day to take out the tree. Tonight the children receive their gifts here in Spain. All the best!

Enjoy tomorrow with the children in your family. Yes! The day the Magi arrived at the manger! Glad you’re feeling better. I’m left with a nagging cough, too. This, too, shall pass, though. Better days lie ahead!

What a lovely tradition! One would be hard pressed to make the children in the US wait until January 6th!

It’s always been like that here although in some families children do get gifts from Papa Noel too on 25 DEC… Hope you’re feeling better Janet. Take good care and all the best!

Thank you, Barb. I finally got a good night’s sleep last night and had more energy today than any day since December 20. I hope your writing is going well. I’m eager to get back to working on my book and short stories. My brain has been in a fog for nearly three weeks. I did find a book on Internet Archives that I could read for free and take notes on that will greatly help me with authenticity of setting in the early part of my novel. It was a great find!

As you can see, I haven’t been on WordPress for six days. We had heavy rain and winds on Tuesday which resulted in all the local creeks being across our country roads, power outages, Internet outages, and telephone outages. In fact, our phone service won’t be restored until next week. We had absolutely no damage at our house except for a few limbs down. Nothing unusual there because we have many very old and large hardwood trees on our property. When I was finally able to venture out to the library and grocery store on Thursday, I discovered traffic lights that still weren’t working. What an adventure! Reminded me of the days in Charlotte after Hurricane Hugo in 1989, except the National Guard wasn’t here this time to direct traffic. It has been an interesting week, to say the least. I’d like to think next week things will return to normal. Take care. I’m right there with you on the lingering cough.

Haha! I did remember how to drive, which turned out to be quite a blessing because when I ventured out I discovered the traffic lights at several intersections were still out-of-service due to Tuesday’s storm.

I hope the cough has finally left you, it’s practically abandoned me, thank God. That storm sounds terrible, I do hope power and internet are restored promptly, as nowadays internet is as important as light and water. You weee reminded of Hurricane Hugo, I immediately thought of H. Andrew in Florida 1992…

Still coughing a little. No Internet yesterday, but it’s back today. Hopefully, the phone landline will be restored tomorrow just in time for some very cold weather to blow in from Canada.
