One thing led to another…

We all have days when every little thing seems to go wrong and one insignificant event leads to another insignificant event until things come to a head.

I had one of those afternoons yesterday.

It all started last week with a fraudulent charge on my credit card which necessitated the issuance of a new card. I had finally gotten comfortable with my old security code. Oh well.

Yesterday I received an email from the credit card company indicating that I needed to go to my account where I would find a letter regarding my fraudulent charge claim.

When I went into my account, it said I didn’t have any letters or notices, so I got my card in hand and prepared to call the credit card company.

But first, this might take more than a few minutes. I need some water. That’s when things took a turn.

I went to the kitchen for water. Decided a couple of ice cubes would be nice. In the process of getting two ice cubes out of the freezer compartment, I hit my “funny bone” on the door which made my hand release the ice cubes which hit my bare toes.

That wasn’t enough. I realized the washing machine had stopped, so I went to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer before calling the credit card company.

I got to the laundry room.

That’s when I stepped in water.

Janet

Prayers for our U.S. military personnel in harm’s way in the Middle East and prayers for the people of Ukraine. My problems yesterday afternoon were tiny.

  1. Ouchee Janet. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve had one of those days – all week! Not surprising with the shadow of Mercury Retrograde finally exiting and a full moon. Planets matter. 😍

  2. The first customer service rep at the credit card company told me the email I’d received was bogus, that they had not sent me an email, did I want to be transferred to the Fraud Dept. Yes. The Fraud Dept. told me that yes, they sent that email to me just to let me know they were investigating the fraudulent charge claim even though that’s not what the email said and they had not put a letter in my account. They’re still working on my claim. In the meantime, I have to pay the bill. It has not been easy to line up an authorized repair person to come check out our Speed Queen washing machine. Of the 6 within 25 miles of us, the first one’s website doesn’t work. The second one hasn’t set up his voicemail, so we couldn’t leave a message. The third one on the list is scheduled to come on Tuesday afternoon. Nothing is easy these days. I hope you have a very nice, restful, peaceful weekend. I’m going to try not to watch the news.

  3. Sorry you’ve been clobbered this week, too, Debby. I didn’t even mention the fiasco I had trying to read microfilm at a university library on Wednesday. Today it was computer problems, picking up limbs and cutting low-hanging branches off poplar trees so I can mow under them without getting knocked off the tractor. Makes one wonder what tomorrow holds. I think I’m glad I can’t see into the future. I did have a second sense that kicked in twice when I was a child. I was afraid to tell anyone until recently. When I was six, I knew my brother was going to be in a wreck that night. When I was around 12, I knew in advance that my family was going to be in a car accident before we got to our destination. My parents never knew that I had those … those… I don’t even know what to call them. They weren’t visions. They were just “knowings.” I guess if I’d been born several centuries ago, I would have been burned alive for being a witch! I kept both incidences a secret until just several years ago when I told my sister. Didn’t know I was going to get into that when I started responding to your comment. Oh well. Now you know, too.

  4. Today it was the computer for several hours. Tomorrow? Who knows? Washing machine repairman coming on Tuesday afternoon.

  5. That is interesting Janet because I too have psychic premonitions – especially when bad things are going to happen. It’s our inner alarm system, and not everyone has that. Yes, I may very well have been one of those witches burned at the steak back in the 1600s. 🙂 I prefer not to dwell on tomorrows and just live one day at a time. It’s less overwhelming for me. 🥰

  6. It is interesting that you have premonitions, too. (I couldn’t think of that word yesterday.) My mother always lived by “take one day at a time.” I try, but I’m not very good at it. At 73, I’m still a work in progress. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Peace.

  7. That really was a bad day. I had a similar one last Monday but then this week a great day on the Saturday. Maybe because I wasn’t expecting it, it really was so lovely, nothing special, just lovely.

Wishing you lots of good days to come.

  8. I’m trying to remember to do that. I’m finally getting around to reading P.S. I Forgive You this weekend. What a tragic childhood which scarred forever! No one should have a parent like that. I was so blessed!

  9. II understand. those small free accidents can cause a lot of distress. I am glad that you are doing much better now. Blessings.
